"If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed."
- Proverbs 29:18 (MSG)
We are asking each person to renew and live out a commitment to God and Horizons Church in 2011. This will be demonstrated in our action, which is our doing, and our character, which is our being.
"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth, so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart."
- 1 Peter 1:22 (NIV)
Each of us needs to take responsibility to connect more deeply to God and to each other. Pray and ask God to give you some people to deeply connect with in 2011. Invest yourself in others and ask yourself the question, "What does it mean to love one another deeply", and then live that out.
"The king will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"
- Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
We are called to proclaim God's love and as the church, we are to demonstrate God's love to all people, especially the needy. In 2011, there will be many opportunities for you to engage in caring for others in our community and in the world.
"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
- 2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB)
Horizons Church exists to empower people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Each of us is called to share our story and the story of God's love and grace to others. But, in order for people to become disciples, we must coach each other. Your experiences are unique and you can coach someone else, just as someone may coach you.
"The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God's word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as has been planted!"
- Matthew 13:23 (NLT)
In 2011, each of us must make a decision to grow and then accept the responsibility to tend to our own growth. There will be new opportunities in Life Groups and seminars that we will host in order to create catalyst moments for that growth. However, or real spiritual growth begins with a deep commitment to a daily time in prayer and with God's word.
